The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Venice decided to celebrate the 25° Anniversary of Independence from the Soviet Union, occurred on December the 16th 2016, during the most popular event in Venice: the Carnival.
On February the 25th the Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Venice -Pierluigi Aluisio- guided an institutional delegation of Ambassadors and Consuls representing Kazakhstan in Europe and in Italy in the “Nations Parade” of Venice Carnival.
The Parade of Kazakh Authorities marched with the traditional clothes of the Kazakh nomads in St. Mark’s Square, on the official stage of Venice Carnival. Then they moved on gondolas from Ca’ Giustinian along the Grand Canal to reach Ca’ Sagredo for the concert and gala dinner.
This special celebration allowed reaching an audience made of almost 20.000 people in St. Mark’s Square, who were reminded of the ancient connection between Venice and Kazakhstan, which dates back to Marco Polo trips along the Silk Road.
The Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Venice – Pierluigi Aluisio and H.E. Amb. Kairat Sarybay – Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Vienna and permanent representative at United Nations – illustrated to the audience the Kazakhstan culture and history, pointing out that in the “Land of the great steppe” 20 religions and 130 different ethnic groups coexist in peace and prosperity.
The Honorary Consul Aluisio told the audience about the Kazakh culture and traditions, with the help of some great images from the video“Welcome to Kazakhstan – Heath of Eurasia“ which showed some of the features of this great and unique Country.
The last part of the speeches was dedicated to promote EXPO 2017, the International Exposition scheduled to take place between June 10th and September 10th, in Astana. As the Consul Aluisio said, EXPO 2017 will be an amazing global event, but also a special occasion for tourists to visit Kazakhstan and know Kazakh cultural traditions. The audience enjoyed the video “Expo 2017 Astana | Cleaner. Greener. Brighter“.
Thanks to the communication activities on newspapers, radio, TV and social medias done before, during and after the event, the Consulate promoted Kazakhstan to more than 700.000 people.
